The Lea Street Anthem
(To the tune of John Brown’s body)
The Lea Street story started back in 1883
Our pupils learn about our long established History
But now we have a battle at it’s very clear to see
Our campaign starts right here
Chorus:
We believe we’re in the best school
We believe our teachers are cool
Please don’t shut the gates of this school
We Love Lea Street School
The new mill-en-nium it brought us changes in many ways
When Ofsted came to visit us and stayed for several days
It prompted us to demonstrate just how to mend our ways
Chorus:
Two thou-sand and one the year to shout and beat the drum
And Estelle Morris a let she wrote to say to us “Well done!”
An award for School Achievement and the first of three to come
Our crusade marches on
Chorus:
Another Ofsted visit, our improvement made them drool
“The pupils have good attitudes to work and life in school.”
To say “we can” and not “we can’t” is Lea Street’s golden rule
Our standards are flying high
Chorus:
A caring school, a happy school; a lively place you see
Encouragement for all to be the best that we can be
To close us down would hurt our friendly school community
We’ll fight to save our school
Chorus:
The staff have good relationships with everyone around
Problems dealt with promptly and solutions always found
So Mrs Willetts lead our song now let’s all gather round
And sing this one more time
Chorus:
We believe we’re in the best school
We believe our teachers are cool
Please don’t shut the gates of this school
We Love Lea Street School
